About

If you think you live in a civilised democracy, you might be wrong.

The people of this group live in the Sands Estate in Broadway, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Cotswolds.

For many of us this this was a goal, which through work, aptitude, ability and a lot of luck, we achieved.

We like it because it is peaceful, picturesque, and above all friendly and welcoming.

And then Full Fibre arrived

This is the manifestation of the government’s desire for, and financial incentives given to, the first provider to deliver, Gigabit Broadband.

There’s no escape

We thought that the recent installation of 110mm underground ducting to our properties would be the end of the crazy idea of installing 14m high rough pine creosote coated poles.

We were wrong.

Despite this brand new ducting being installed, we still Full Fibre insist on installing 14m high poles.

Police presence

We thought the Police would allow peaceful demonstration. We were wrong.

If any of us here were burgled, we’d be lucky to get a crime number over the phone.. Full Fibre appear to have a direct line!

Where is the district council?

We thought that the district council would help us…

And Ofcom?

We thought Ofcom would be able to mediate.

Ofcom have no interest in ensuring important infrastructure updates are done correctly, safely ad sympathetically. Legal advice though , now that’s a thought…

Full Fibre Heroes

We thought that the work would be carried out in a respectful and considerate manner. We were really, really wrong.

Work was done by Full Fibre with little regard to public safety, and with no notice given to residents. Permits were approved for work at a moment’s notice, and safety barriers were never installed correctly. The workmen were clearly unhappy with the residents’ peaceful protest, and on many occasions were heard to threaten residents with “putting a pole outside your house”. An interesting tactic.

And you know what,, after all that. None of us have Gigabit Broadband. We’d like it, we want it, underground, in the ducting they dug our pavements up to install two weeks ago…

What’s next..

We have in fact taken legal advice, so, to be fair to Ofcom, that was a good suggestion. Watch this space.
